Rocky Mountain Lasers and Total Positioning Instruments began in 1970 by the utility laser pioneer
Jack Richard. Jack was credited with many firsts in the utility laser
industry. Jack Richard owned Rocky mountain Lasers until his
retirement in 1991. Rocky Mountain Lasers was the first company
to sell laser systems in the Rocky Mountain region to the construction,
agriculture, and mining industries. 
Prior to Richard’s retirement, RML merged with another laser positioning
company, Total Positioning Instruments. Since then, the company
has acquired the distribution and service rights to provide the customer with
the knowledge and expertise necessary for the customers needs.
